Dredge

Is a fantastic game.

That is all.

Seriously, I’ve been having a blast with it. I just wrapped up two games this past weekend I’ve been working off and on for most of this year and I just needed something more bite sized before I go into the next big game. (Fallout 3, Breath of the Wild)

Dredge was recommended to me by my brother sometime last year, which I then added to a wishlist and picked up with the DLC when it went on sale.

Finally the time came, I knew nothing about it apart from the cover image.

Apparently it’s described as a

horror fishing game with Lovecraftian creatures.

So yeah, that’s awesome to find out as you’re playing for the first time. I do prefer to go into games blind like that.

Things I’ve said out loud while playing this game:

“WHAT WAS THAT???”

“WELL FUCK ME, HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DO THAT THEN”

“NONONONONONONONONO”

“Oh sweet, new fishing rod”

I think I’m nearing the end, I know it’s not a very long game to beat and that’s exactly what I needed after wrapping up some multiple dozen/hundred hour behemoth games. At least until I’m ready for the next behemoth.

Which is probably not like the 200+ hours of Monster Hunter Wilds that has been most of 2025.

But I do feel ready to give Borderlands 2 another chance. I liked the first one, then dropped off. But I think it’s time.

At least for the next 2 months or so when Pokemon Legends Z-A comes out, I’m so ready for that.
