Apparently I got real busy outside of photography and didn’t touch my camera for a while. Probably switched back to playing video games. I usually only get really invested into a hobby for short time, long enough to dump a good amount of money into it before moving on. Thankfully photography has become a lot more than a regular hobby over the years.
However after a few months, one morning I was heading out to work when I spotted this snapping turtle right outside my apartment. Ran back inside and grabbed the camera and telephoto. However, by the time I got back out, there was a neighbor right across the road from this little guy. Who really wasn’t that little honestly, biggest turtle I’ve ever seen in real life. However when you come rushing out with a camera and long lens and point it generally in their direction while they walk their dog… I didn’t want to take any chances and cause trouble. I took this single image and headed to work. I did see a maintenance worker for the apartment on my drive out and warned him about the snapping turtle. Just because there were kids and the neighbor was walking their small dog. Hoping they would stick around and warn those people to keep their distance.
I should mention there is water on both sides of this road. Little ponds that have a decent amount of wildlife. Seeing geese here every year as they hatch and raise their young. I also have an upcoming image and story about one of my most favorite images that I took quite literally right out my front door. Haven’t seen the snapping turtle in a few years, hopefully it’s still out there. Snapping away.
